You kind of have to scratch your head about Rihanna. She's talented, beautiful, successful, and totally hooked on a man who beat her up. That's depressing. The Barbados-born singer rocketed to stardom with her debut album, "Music of the Sun", just eight years ago, and it has been a whirlwind of tours, awards ceremonies, talk show and red carpet appearances, and even a few acting jobs, ever since. To date, she has sold 30 million albums and 120 million singles, and her most recent album, "Unapologetic", went to #1 on the charts and spawned the hit songs, "Diamonds" and "Stay". She has released seven albums, one per year basically, and has won seven Grammy Awards, five AMAs, eight Billboard Music Awards, and two BRIT Awards. She is the youngest solo artist to have had 12 #1 singles on the Billboard charts, and her annual income hovers around $50 million. So, why she continues to hang with a man who doesn't seem particularly good for her is a mystery to just about everyone. Though he has publicly apologized for beating her up, Chris Brown, her main squeeze with issues, has continued to show that he has some serious impulse management deficiencies. Whatever her reasons for continuing to choose him are, she seems to like lavishing him with gifts. Most recently, she purchased him a limited edition 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss.
Rihanna's car for Chris Brown was part of a set of custom made Mercedes-Benz vehicles released in 2009. Only 75 were manufactured, and the vehicles are quite coveted. The Stirling Moss is notable for its lack of windshield, windows, or roof. With the ability to accelerate from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, the lack of any sort of protection makes for a rather intense driving experience. The car runs on a 5.4 liter V-8 engine that produces 650 hp, and the body is made of carbon fiber. It has a top speed of 217 miles per hour, and a price tag of $1 million. Rihanna purchased the vehicle as a present for Chris Brown's 24th birthday. It doesn't seem like the wisest investment, given his track record for destroying cars. Then again, wise is not a word one would necessarily apply to their relationship.
