Reese Witherspoon's reputation was pretty darn squeaky clean until recently. Other than a messy divorce, which everyone pretty much blamed on her husband who seemed to be suffering from an acute case of career envy, the headlines about Ms. Witherspoon were always fairly benign. They often had to do with what movie she was promoting, what dress she wore to which awards ceremony, or which person she might or might not be dating. That was about it. She seemed fairly normal and put together. Then late last month, she and her second husband were arrested for drunken disorderly conduct, and wouldn't you know all hell broke loose. There is nothing more interesting to the celebrity gossip mill than when a good girl goes bad, and Reese Witherspoon has the mug shots, and dash cam video, to go with her topple off the "goody-two-shoes" pedestal. Just prior to all of the hullabaloo surrounding her ill-advised drunken incident, Ms. Witherspoon began expanding her real estate portfolio again. She quietly purchased the house next door to her current primary home in Los Angeles, California.
Reese Witherspoon's house is 3,053 square feet and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms and bathrooms are in the house proper, and one of the bedroom/bathroom combos is part of staff housing. This is the third home that Ms. Witherspoon has purchased in the immediate vicinity. The second piece of property was razed and landscaped to become a larger backyard. Reese Witherspoon's house is a single story, and has a two-car garage, a swimming pool, a separate house for art making, and terraces all around. With the purchase of this property, she has the makings of a true compound with her home(s) spread out over 1.32 acres. Reese Witherspoon's house cost $3 million, which is quite reasonable based on the neighborhood in which she lives. Only time will tell whether she intends to keep it as a house, or turn it into something else entirely.
