Earlier today, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed a book deal with publishing house Simon & Schuster that will put a reported $14 million advance in her bank account. The book deal comes a little more than two months after Hillary stepped down as Secretary of State, a position she served for Barack Obama's entire first Presidential term. Her future book does not yet have a title but it is being billed as a personal memoir of her time as Secretary of State. Mrs. Clinton is not expected to discuss her failed Presidential campaign of 2008 or the affair her husband had with Monica Lewinsky nearly 18 years ago in this book. Instead, the pages will focus on America's role in international diplomacy today. She will likely discuss her views on the turbulence in the Middle East, relations with China, the ouster and death of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and the assassination of Osama Bin Laden.

A $14 million advance nearly doubles the amount Hillary received for her first memoir "Living History", for which she received $8 million. It's also just $1 million shy of the $15 million her husband Bill Clinton was paid for his memoir "My Life". Bill's book wound up selling more than 2.5 million copies which earned him an additional $15 million in royalties, bringings the total payout to $30 million. Can Hillary's book perform as well?
